Death Cab for Cutie u.a. wunderbare Musik macht. Näher beschrieben wird dies auf seiner Myspace-Seite:

“Plushgun is a beautiful mix of indie rock sound with high-voltage electronic backbeats. Created entirely by the 23 year old New York based trained classical composer who lives, sleeps and records everything in a tiny 8 by 5 closet/bedroom that has no windows or ventilation. The isolation and cramped space does not seem to have cramped Plushgun’s musical stylings though. With a voice born to croon over these beautiful orchestrated tunes that seems to come from a soul much older than his 23 years, Plushgun will definitely be on my radar for a long time to come and should be on yours too.”

1. You’re looking at the right hand side, what do you see?
A television tuned to CNN International, and a Nintendo Wii. The Wii, by the way, is my favorite new toy.

2. Remembering the early youth, what was your most embarrasing moment?
This one is tough, not because I have so few to choose from, but rather, an abundance of embarrasing memories. I suppose the most embarrassing was failing pre-school. Who fails pre-school? Well, musicians apparently do.

3. From which childhood trauma are you still suffering?
I fell on my head when I was three of four on concrete. I know I am still suffering from that, every time I think.

4. Besides music, have got a college degree or any other education?
I have a B.A. in Political Science from NYU, which is usefully in the sole purpose of pretending to be smart.

5. Are you afraid of an instrument?
I hear there is a semi-tone on a tuba that includes bowl movements, that is enough to scare anybody.

6. Which dance moves have you got? Do you dance at all?
Oh please. I can do the robot like nobody’s business.

7. Which song makes you cry?
The Final Cut by Pink Floyd (late Floyd) and The last half of Abbey Road. Then again, most Jessica Simpson music makes me cry, but that is generally out of a more existentialist breakdown kind of way.

8. What have you always got with you?

Water. iPod. And the Origin of Species.

9. Decide: tape, cd, vinyl or mp3?
This one is tough. Vinyl is actually the best form to listen to music, because untainted analogue has the widest range of sound. Mp3 has the lowest range, which is why it is so compressed, but nothing has done more for independent musicians than the Mp3. The mp3 has, essentially, redefined the music industry on musicians’ terms, taking a decent amount of power from the large record labels.

10. What do you like to travel with: canoe, tandem or a scooter?
Is the L Train a proper response?

11. Do you own a pink piece of clothing?
Not initially, but I have many red pieces of clothing that have been accidentally bleached to pinkness. And I embrace this fact (and the fact that I am terrible at my own laundry)

12. What’s your perfect pet?
I like a big, slobbery, happy dog.

13. What are you going to think after this interview?
Do you want fries with that?

Thanks to Mister Plushgun!
